Kelly Allen, Senior Manager of Membership and Meetings for BEMA, had an opportunity to ask Mr. Feder a few questions about himself and the organization.
Q: What is Cain Food Industries, Inc. most known for?
A: The entire team at Cain Food Industries takes pride in delivering the highest quality products along with unsurpassed customer service. I believe this is how our customers view us as well.
Q: What do you love most about the baking industry?
A: The people! I started in this industry when I was 24 years old. One of my first connections was with Joe and Mark Ungashick. They both immediately welcomed me as a peer and offered their support. They opened their door to me and told me if I ever needed anything not to hesitate to ask, and they meant it.
Q: What is the one thing you have missed the most during 2020?
A: Connecting with people in person at industry events. I do not miss the 6am flight though!
Q: Is there anything that you think will remain the “new normal” because of the Coronavirus?
A: I hope not! I believe we have learned how to troubleshoot via technology, and this will be useful for small issues going forward.
Q: Would you like to share something new or innovative that your company has done recently?
A: Our R&D team is fantastic. They are constantly looking for ways to improve on technologies and deliver those improvements to the baking industry. Our newest line of softeners, Alpha Soft, is a great example. Alpha Soft is an anti-staling enzyme system that can be used in yeast-raised products to enhance softness and extend shelf-life. Alpha Soft was developed to deliver desired softness and maintain resiliency to our bakery products.
Q: What drew your company to join BEMA? What resources have you found most valuable?
A: The networking, training and educational opportunities drew us to BEMA. The summer Convention is a great way to meet new people and see old friends.
Q: Please share any personal interests or volunteer activities that you enjoy.
A: In my free time I enjoy golfing, chasing quail and pheasant in Western Kansas and of course spending time with my family which is easy since they like to golf and hunt as well!
