Q: What got you into the baking industry?
A: I needed a job out of college.
Q: Why do you love the business of baking?
A: The relationships and the long-term approach most companies take. To work with the same people, multi-generations of families is very rewarding. They become friends.
Q: Who do you consider a mentor in the industry? Who has made an impact on your career?
A: Al and Norm Formo, Fred Springer and Jim Forsyth.
Q: What goals do you have for your board membership tenure?
A: My goals are the same today as when I first started in BEMA. I want to contribute to the betterment of the industry and those coming up in it. I believe we have a responsibility to our families, our communities and our work environment to be a positive influence and to foster continuous improvement.
Q: What trend are you most excited about in the baking industry right now?
A: Sustainability. Every industry has to get better at how we interact with our world.
Q: What was your favorite baked good as a kid, and now?
A: Apple fritter, OK, maybe that is fried. Second would be baked apple crisp.
