Damian Morabito is the President of Topos Mondial Corp., and he directs the vision and management of both Topos Mondial USA and Topos Europe in the CZ. Damian guides their engineering teams to innovate new equipment offerings while filling the gaps of equipment offerings in the industry. He offers sales leadership to their sales teams and helps customers solve problems within their plants through proper equipment applications and investments.
Kelly Allen, Membership Manager for BEMA had an opportunity to ask Mr. Morabito a few questions about himself and the organization.
Q: How long has Topos Mondial been a member of BEMA?
A: Topos joined BEMA in 2001. We jumped in with both feet and have been attending Summit and Convention since 2001 as well. BEMA has been a large part of our company’s success and relevance in the industry. I have really enjoyed the time spent over the past 17 years working on the committees, serving in the Vice Chair seats and then culminating as Chairman in 2013-2014. There have been many great family and industry related memories along the way that I look back on very fondly. I always leave the meetings with a good feeling about the industry as a whole and about our company’s purpose within the industry.
Q: What drew your company to join BEMA?
A: Initially, it was about the networking opportunities with fellow BEMA members and building those relationships, and now that has grown into opportunities to interact and build relationships with Bakers and Customers in the industry as well. Staying active in BEMA is a great way to keep on top of what is happening in our industry. You are either in the traffic or watching it go by, and BEMA helps you merge effectively into the traffic!
Q: What do you love most about working in the baking industry?
A: We love helping customers solve problems and offering a lot of value for their investment. And based on our offerings of new, rebuilt and used machinery, we are always busy doing so. When one segment of the business is down, the other segments always seem to be busy.
Q: What is something new or innovative that your company has done recently?
A: We are now offering new, complete doughnut fry lines from the proofer-fryer through to packing with all of the cooling and finishing equipment in between.
Q: What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A: I love scuba diving and interacting with/observing all types of marine life, from small to large, from sharks to intricate reef structures…I also love spending time at our house in Cape May, NJ, which I do not get to see as much as I would like.
