Doran receives Community Development Award
The St. Charles Chamber of Commerce awarded Doran Scales a Community Development Award at the 97th Annual Charlemagne Awards Gala on February 8, recognizing Doran’s contribution to the local business community.
More than 500 people attended the gala – a record turnout – and the Chamber presented several types of awards to individuals and businesses that have enhanced the St. Charles business community — ranked number one in Illinois by WalletHub in 2018.
“St. Charles is a wonderful city that has really welcomed us,” said Mark Podl, CEO of Doran, which completed construction of a 33,000-sq.-ft. headquarters building in the city’s Legacy Business Park near the East Side Sports complex.
“We were able to design our new headquarters to be as environmentally friendly as possible and the space allows us to have everything under one roof — and accommodate our growth plans,” Podl explained. “But coming here was also a homecoming. My father started Doran in our St. Charles home 41 years ago, so it is very gratifying to be back and to be recognized by the city.”
Special guests at the Charlemagne Awards Gala included City of St. Charles Mayor Ray Rogina; Illinois State Senator Don DeWitte; Illinois State Representatives Sean Casten and Dan Ugaste and Illinois State Representative Karina Villa as well as City Council members and staff.
